Queens College And SAC Dominate BAAA High School Relays
The Queen’s College Comets, Saint Augustine’s College Big Red Machines and the Saint John’s College Green Giants dominated The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations High School Relays on Saturday at the Thomas Robinson Stadium.
In the junior division, the Comets took the girls and boys title securing 28 and 24 points respectively.
The Big Red Machine was second with 20 points in the junior girls division while the Giants collected 18 points for second in the junior boys division.
The Saint Anne’s Blue Waves totaled 11 points for a third place finish in the Junior girls division while Anathol Rodgers and Zion Christian were tied with 10 points for third in the junior boys division.
In the intermediate and senior girls divisions, SAC racked up 26 points in each division which was enough to win both titles. The Comets had 16 points in the intermediate girls division for second while the C.I. Gibson Rattlers with 10 points was third.
There were many doubts about the defending Government Secondary Schools Sports Association champions C.R. Walker Knights, but they had an impressive showing collecting second in the senior girls division with 14 points.
Also the Grand Bahama Catholic High School Crusaders made a surprise visit to the capital to compete in three relay events. Catholic High totaled 13 points to take third place in the senior girls division.
The Giants also doubled with victories in the intermediate and senior boys divisions collecting 20 and 22 points respectively.
The Comets picked up a second place in the intermediate division while the Big Red Machine took third with 11 points.
In the senior division, the Blue Waves surprise the Knights to take second place with 14 points while the Knights settled for third with 12 points.
